Final Project: Balance
For my final project i chose to photograph balance. i enjoy the challenge of finding things center of gravity and i could take pictures of things that are in balance for that one split second. The photos themselves may not be that interesting, but each and every one had work put into it just to set up of the photo. then i had to snap the shot before it all fell down

Networking Project
Hi Makena,
I have had a photography business since 1990, I took classes at Cabrillo College and the Academy of Art in San Francisco, but most of what I know is from experimenting and doing it.
I find clients from word of mouth, being on the preferred vendor list for different wedding locations, being on facebook, wedding wire, yelp and other social media sites.
Keeping up the the current advances is difficult and expensive but I like a challenge and it keeps the work fresh.
Good luck to you,
Susan
Dear Susan,
I am a senior at Santa Cruz High School and my teacher has sent me on the hunt to get information from professional photographers. If you get the time I'd love for you to answer a few questions.
I was wondering how you got your training and where you went to school?
How long have you been in the field of photography?
How do you find clients?
How do you keep up on all the newest technology in the photography world?
I look forward to your insight
Sincerely,
Makena Brouwer

Critiquing Yosef
Balance
by Yosef
In this photo, Yosef portrays two flowers next to each other that give off a feeling of balance in the image. The bright color of the flowers attract all the attention at first glance and the surrounding green ice plant really make the flowers pop. The bright yellow flower makes me feel happy and somewhat excited because it causes my mind to think of summer time. The flower on the right is somewhat out of focus, but the one on the left is not. He uses the color contrast to its full potential and I think the lighting is perfect. I also support his decision to keep the image in color because black and white would have caused it to be a lot less exciting. Overall, i find that this photo was well taken and looks quite professional. My only point of critique would be to get both halves of the image completely in focus.

Collage of Faces
Summary:
I spent time walking around the world and once i started really looking I was finding faces in everything. Every car looked like they were looking at me and sometimes even the clouds would smile. So i grabbed the camera and started snapping shots of the world around me.

Color Theory Writing Assignment
In the color theory assignment I learned about the color wheel. I learned that red, yellow, and blue are the pigment generated primary colors and red, green, and blue are the light generated primary colors. Mixing the primary colors is how you get the secondary colors like green, violet, and orange. Tertiary colors are created by mixing secondary colors with other secondary colors or with primary colors. A subtractive color model is pigment generated while an additive color model is light generated. Colors can make things look brighter or darker. they can be used to set a certain feeling to a room. Warm colors like orange, red, and yellow can be used to make a room have a fall or summer feel while cool colors like violet, blue, and grey can create more of a winter scene. Contrasting color can cause more of a pop from the colors. if you put a red tile on a black board the red is join to stand out more then if you put red tile on an orange board.
